This activity includes roundtrip transfer from your hotel, apartment or your house.
Depart from Cusco in the morning, with pickup from your hotel and a transfer from the city center to your train station. Your departure location and travel experience depend on the seating option you’ve selected. Guests can choose from the Expedition train—the Vistadome, with glass on all sides for better viewing—or the Executive Class with comfortable seats.

Then enjoy a scenic train ride, offering stunning views of the mountainous terrain that makes up the area near Machu Picchu.

Arrive in Aguas Calientes, the small village located at the base of this famous Inca site, and board a bus for the short ride to this sacred citadel. Completed around 1450, when the Inca Empire was at the peak of its power and influence, the site was left vacant within 100 years of its creation, thanks to the conquest of the Inca people by the Spanish. Though the site today remains abandoned, many believe Machu Picchu to be a key center of spiritual energy.

Follow your guide through the main streets of this marvel of ancient engineering. Learn about the site’s history and design as you meander through its town square, key religious sites, an elaborate network of agricultural terraces, and intricately-designed stone staircases.

After spending a few hours at the site, return by bus to the train station in Aguas Calientes and then to your chosen train for the trip back to Cusco.

IMPORTANT: Your passport details are needed for the Machu Picchu Day Trip (Full name and Passport ID). Please provide your passport details in the additional request box, otherwise the tour is notconfirmed.

Our group was split. There was a lot of back and forth with the organizers. I was told I had to enter Machu Picchu at a different time from my group?

Machu picchu

Machu picchu itself was nice but the organization was a bit lackluster. I tried asking for a planning (which they don't provide themselves) to know if we would have breakfast (you don't!), how long we would be traveling and when we would be back. Even after multiple messages they were unable to give me a simple overview of what we would be doing at what time. So if you are reading this: make sure to bring food or you won't have any for the first 4 and a half hours of the trip.

The guide is very informative and humble. He provided picture and stone to inform me in a very detail about history of machu picchu. Everything were provided by the tour except breakfast, lunch, dinner and water but You can find everything there. The guide will wait for us at Machu picchu, on the way going from cuzco they will arrange pickup car from the hotel and drop us at bus station and give instruction on how to change to the vista dome train which we have to check by ourselves. The lady who came and picked me up from the hotel was very helpful also, the guy who picked me up at the train station after I arrived in cuzco. It was a long day but worth for once in a life time

We were picked up from our hotel early (4.30am). The communication was very good from the day before - make sure you have WhatsApp! The pickup was on time and super friendly. The transfer is a bit hectic and can be confusing but just go with the flow and you'll be fine, everything falls into place. As soon as the sun rises the scenery is amazing so the bus and train transfers were not as unpleasant as one might think. On arrival our guide Marco was waiting with a name board. His English was great and he was very knowledgeable. Machu Pichu is busy but you won't be disappointed!. Following the visit Marco recommended a Peruvian restaurant for lunch. We were a bit sceptical but the food and drink was amazing and well priced (beween £8 and £13 for a main) considering the tourist area, Marco nailed it!! The transfer back went smoothly and our ride back to our hotel was waiting on arrival. A great day all round and highly recommended. Thank you Marco xx.

Incredible and Easy trip to Machu Picchu

This is a perfect trip to take if you’re not sure how to organize a trip to Machu Picchu. The team takes care of all the different steps it takes to get to the site. Bus, train, more bus, ticket to the site and a guide. Then everything on the way back. Pick up and drop off to your hotel too. Plus they’re super easy to get in touch with to answer any questions. I ended up having a guide to myself by chance and he was amazing. Hector was super knowledgeable, he’s been doing guided tours to Machu Picchu for over 20 years. And the best part he was an amazing photographer! I definitely recommend Viajes Pacíficos !

Jaime was an INCREDIBLE tour guide. So knowledgeable and really was able to dive deep into every aspect of MP. I am an incessant question asker and Jaime had an incredible answer and info for everything. I had the chance to hear pieces of other tours that were being given and I can say that Jaime was hands-down THE BEST

The tour was organized and makes it easy for the tourist. They picked us up from our hotel and gave us clear instructions. You start at the cusco bus station. You take the bus to Ollentamtambo (the train station). You take the train to Aguas Calientes. Then from there, you take a 20min bus ride to the entrance of Machu Picchu.

My birthday at Macchu Picchu!
LeahChristiaC_C
, Apr 2022
For my birthday this year I decided to go to Macchu Picchu, and I did! The team at Inka Rail, especially Lila and Jaime, took very good care of us. They spoke wonderful English, communicated well, and made sure we had a seamless travel to our destination. We were staying in Cusco, so we had to wake up early and began our day at 4am. It was a 2 hour bus ride to the train station, which was bumpy so I got car sick. When we got to the train station, Inka Rail had their own rest area with clean restrooms, and snacks. Outside the rest area are vendors for more souvenirs and snacks, I recommend buying here because my hat and poncho were cheaper than in Cusco. The train ride on the 360 was gorgeous, we got to take in the scenery in the open cabin and relax for 1 hour and 45 mins. When we got to Aguas Caliente, Jaime had a sign to gather us all together. Just remember that not everyone on the train is in your group so dont get lost. We had some time to explore then had to queue up to ride the bus to the top. This was also a bumpy ride which took about 25 mins to get to the top. We showed our passports then started our journey through thr incan ruins. It was an overcast day but the clouds were constantly giving way to the structure. It rained a little but we came prepared with ponchos in case, but it was only for a few minutes. It was breath taking standing there in person. Our journey back to Cusco was everything in reverse and got back to the hotel by 830pm. I truly enjoyed myself, minus the motion sickness. Definitely pack an extra bag in case you don't feel well, it saved my life on the ride back! Enjoy!

Smooth trip to Machu Picchu
Gene_K
, Apr 2022
There was some initial mix up because I had booked the wrong date, but once it was straightened out by the 5AM pickup time in Cuzco, everything went very smoothly. I was picked up at my AirBnb and then dropped at the station for the bus ride to Ollantaytambo where the VistaDome train was boarded to Agua Caliente where my guide was waiting. I was his only client and we rode up to Machu Picchu. I am 80 and had to slow down sometimes to catch my breath but he was very patient. The site itself is quite large over a large area and we explored it all. After we were finished, the reverse bus, train, bus brought me back to Cuzco where I was met at the bus station by another guide and driven back to the pick up point where I was staying. A wonderful day.

Good for peace of mind, but pricey
Holly_S
, Mar 2022
The convenience of having all the tickets you need purchased for you ahead of time for reasonable times of day to have a good experience is nice. When we got to Machu Picchu, our guide wasn’t comfortable giving the tour in English, so they flagged down one of the open guides outside of their company at Machu Picchu to take us instead. The guide overall was nice and took us up the steps of Machu Picchu at our own pace and made sure we rested when we needed to (I get pretty impacted by the altitude). We found out that it is warmer at Machu Picchu than it is in Cusco, so make sure you prepare for warmer weather (70s) and wear sunscreen. In reflection, the whole experience felt a little pricey - we probably could have booked our own tickets and flagged down our own guide when we got there. But, for first-timers who didn’t know what to expect and don’t speak much Spanish, it was nice to have that peace of mind and would recommend to other first-timers.

Thank you very much for your feedback and words. We hope you enjoyed youe stay in our country. We will improve the information about our tour. It´s consider to split groups in languages, spanish and english, before entry to the citadel. We hope you enjoyed your trip in our country. Peru has many reasons to come again, jungles and northern lands. All the best.

Great way to see Machu Picchu from Cusco
Emily_N
, Jan 2022
This was a great way to do a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The day was long and the bus ride to the train wasn't the most fun, but it's difficult to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu and this was still a good way to do it. It was pretty well organized even though it involved a lot of steps. Our tour group was small so it was easy to hear the guide and ask questions. Overall would definitely recommend!

I want to start out by...
Patricia_G
, Dec 2021
I want to start out by saying I had a terrible time adjusting to the altitude of Machu Picchu and was very anxious about this. The guides of the trip were patient, talking me down and reassuring me that I would have a great time. My one complaint about the trip was the pick up/drop off. I was in my hotel lobby waiting for pick up when I received a WhatsApp message ( and I had only turned on push notifications for the app the night before) telling me that they could not come pick me up at the hotel because of the type of vehicle being used and I had to meet them at another location about five minutes before they were due to pick me up and fifteen minutes prior to the time they were telling me to be at this new location. I had to get directions from my hotel and then rush to this new pick up location. I'm going to remind you that I was having trouble adjusting to the altitude so rushing up and down a hill is not something I was doing well. I noticed I was passing a mini bus with the company name on it, stopped and asked if they were there to pick me up several blocks before the pick up location and they were so I got on. The bus ride and train ride were fine. I don't feel like being on the Vistadome added anything to my experience and I think I would have had a good time with the regular train but the seats were comfortable and I snoozed on the train ride. We met our guide outside of the train station and he was personable, took us to a place to have coffee and we discussed my anxiety from the night before. At Machu Picchu I discovered that my passport was missing out of the case I keep it and I had a legitimate panic attack. I was already having difficulty breathing because of the altitude and absolutely could not breathe while panicking. My guide brought me to a nice bench with a full view of the archeological site and left me there while another guide messaged me telling me I had to have had it to get on the train. At no time getting on the bus or the train did they actually ask to see my vaccine card or my passport, they just motioned us all on because of our tickets, taking it out at Machu Picchu was the first time I would have seen it. That guide called the bus depot and my hotel and later messaged me that they found the passport under the bed of my hotel room and I could finally breathe a little easier. I walked around on my own near the exit of the site, took some pictures, saw some llamas and made friends with a woman from Serbia who was sitting out because of her injured foot. It was not what I imagined by trip to Machu Picchu to look like but I enjoyed my time there. After our guide took us to a restaurant for lunch and we boarded our train back to Poroy. The train had a couple dancers and the staff modeled some alpaca fur products. After we were picked up from the bus station, my group mates were taken back to their hotel, one was dropped at Plaza de Armas and then I was all that remained. This time they used a van instead of a mini bus and I asked to be taken to my hotel because I know the van was capable of getting down those streets and I was the last passenger. Despite advertising hotel pick up and drop off, I was dropped off in the middle of San Blas. I was unfamiliar with the area and had to use my phone to get an uber because again, the altitude was really bothering me and I was in an unfamiliar location. I was only a couple blocks from my hotel but the uber was the best option for me. Long story short, the guides are fantastic and really go above and beyond but the 'hotel pick up and drop off' is misleading and I would confirm the night before if they can actually pick you up at your hotel otherwise you will find yourself rushing and wheezing through Cusco to make your pick up.
